FIRE

Strange Fire

Nadab and Abihu were the sons of Aaron, elected by God, according to their lineage, to be among the Royal Priesthood. They were fully qualified, ordained priests unto God and served in the Temple of God. One day, Nadab and Abihu got it into their pompous thinking that they could bring an offering before God, which was not ordained of God. The priests, appointed by God, starting with Aaron the High Priest, all the way down to the priests who attended the doors of the Temple of God, were given specific duties outlined by God Himself, starting with their responsibility to cleanse themselves at the laver (indicative of New Testament sanctification), to what types of garments to wear, what specific offerings to make upon the brazen altar, and so forth.

The Word of God tells us,

“Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in them and put incense on them and offered strange fire before the Lord, which He did not command them to do; and there went out fire from the Lord and devoured them and they died before the Lord” Leviticus 10:1-2 (emphasis added).

This is an aspect of God’s character that many people do not recognize. They want to talk about the love of God anytime, but when it comes to the Lord’s commandments and His requirement that we obey them, or face the consequences, people want to deny that characteristic of God.

Deny it all they may, God is to be feared. Old Testament and New Testament scriptures instruct us to fear God.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all they who do His commandments; His praise endures forever” Psalm 111:10.

Jesus said,

“Fear not those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell” Matthew 10:28.

This New Testament scripture is something many people who claim to be Christians work very hard at camouflaging and twisting, because they don’t want to believe in hell. They will even strike new meaning to what Christ said specifically about the body and soul being tormented in hell (because of sin), rather than believe in the Words of Jesus, which they feel are too negative to be true. Seventh-Day Adventists and “Jehovah’s” Witnesses do not believe in a literal hell, for example.

A “Jehovah’s” Witness said to me once, “God wouldn’t send anyone to hell; He wouldn’t do something like that.”

We need to remember this; anyone who twists the Word of God to conform to their own way of thinking is in grave danger, according to the Word of God.

Jesus said to John the Revelator:

“I testify unto every man who hears the Words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book; and if any man shall take away from the Words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the Book of Life and out of the holy city and from the things which are written in this book” Revelation 22:18-19.

In the same book, Revelation, Jesus told John:

“I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God, and the books were opened, and another book was opened, which is the Book of Life; and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them, and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death (eternal death in the lake of fire). And whoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire” Revelation 20:12-15.

Now given the warning in Revelation 22:18-19, about being removed out of the Book of Life, if anyone takes away from the things written in “this book” (the Book of Revelation), I believe it is a mighty fearful thing not to believe in hell and the lake of fire, or to try to remove that truth from the book!

Jeremiah also prophesied a warning to those who create their own path to walk in, their own way to pleasing God:

“Because my people have forgotten Me, they have burned incense to vanity and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up…I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will show them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity” Jeremiah 18:15, 17.

Some might say Nadab and Abihu’s strange fire relates only to Old Testament law, not the dispensation of grace. The following reveals some truth about God’s wrath in the New Testament and is a warning not to trifle with God, not to deal deceitfully concerning the things of God, or worse, lie to the Holy Ghost:

“A certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession and kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why has satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and keep back part of the price of the land? While it remained, was it not your own? After it was sold, was it not in your own power? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied unto men, but to God. Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and gave up the ghost (died on the spot), and great fear came on all those who heard these things. The young men arose, wound him up, carried him out and buried him. It was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what happened, came in. Peter asked her, Tell me whether you sold the land for so much? She said, Yes, for so much. Then Peter said unto her, How is it that you agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door and shall carry you out. She then fell down immediately at his feet and yielded up the ghost; and the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. Great fear came upon all the church, as many as heard these things” Acts 5:1-11.

The deaths of these two, Ananias and Sapphira, weren’t about money, or giving to the church. It was all about lying to God, and the consequences for doing such a thing. Ananias and Sapphira made a commitment to sell some property and donate all of the proceeds to God. Obviously, through the Spirit of discernment, or by revelation, Peter knew they decided to withhold part of the money they received for the property. Instead of modifying their pledge, which would have at least been the honest thing to do, they decided to lie about how much they received for the property, as if they were still donating the whole amount they received to God. They apparently felt so good about themselves, having donated whatever portion of the sale they were giving, they had no concern whatsoever about lying to the man of God about their donation.

God despised their deceitful giving, because it was given in the wrong spirit, in fact, they gave it in a lying spirit, which is evil. The Word of God tells us that there are six, actually seven things God hates, and one of those seven things is “a lying tongue” (Proverbs 6:16-19).

The ways of Nadab and Abihu and Ananias and Sapphira remind me of another passage of scripture:

“There is a way which seems right to a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” Proverbs 14:12.

People have a lot of “wonderful” ideas about God, about what He likes and what He dislikes, about what He wants and what He doesn’t want, about what they think His Word says and about what they think His Word doesn’t say. This is evident by the fact that there are dozens of churches in many cities throughout the world, but they all teach a different doctrine.

There are only two eternal destinies in place: heaven, for those who know truth and obey it; and hell, for those who think they know truth, but talked themselves into believing fables (2 Timothy 4:1-4).

No prophecy is of private interpretation (2 Peter 1:20). In other words, no one scripture stands alone; it must be compared and measured against other scriptures. We are instructed to “rightly divide” the Word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). This means we have to know the whole Word, before we can rightly divide it, or measure its interpretation by other passages of scripture. Often, when you read a passage of scripture and you don’t understand it right away, the scripture will interpret itself, as you keep reading. Nevertheless, the same passage of scripture may have a different meaning if you isolate it from the rest of the Word. It is always critical to pray with a pure heart before God for the divine interpretation of His Word, and He promised to answer that prayer, when we seek Him with all of our hearts (Jeremiah 29:13).

Paul was called by God to be an evangelist and overseer of the Church of God. Before he set out on his ministry, he went to Arabia to hear the Words of Jesus Christ himself; he did not study under men. After all, men can twist the Word of God around horribly. Paul said to the brethren in Galatia,

“I certify to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not after man, for I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by revelation of Jesus Christ…When it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me by His grace, to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood, neither did I go up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me, but I went to Arabia and returned again to Damascus. Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter and abode with him fifteen days. I saw no other apostle, except James, the Lord’s brother” Galatians 1:11-12, 15-19 (emphasis added).

Paul, who wrote most of the New Testament, did not learn the things of God after the rudiments of men, but he went straight to the Source alone. Before he began ministering, he spent three years receiving revelations from Jesus, not of man.

I have heard some of the most outrageous doctrine from those who have graduated from “Bible” seminaries, because the curriculum is often based on man’s interpretation of the Word, not God’s divine revelation.

If you want real instruction, pray earnestly, and then go before the One and only source of real truth and that is the Lord Himself, “who gives freely and upbraids not” (James 1:5), just as the Apostles and Paul did.

Once you know the Word of God for yourself, then, and only then, you can identify false doctrine when you hear it, perhaps even from your pastor!

Jesus warned not once, not twice, but three times to beware of false teachers, false prophets and false Christs in Matthew 24, especially as we draw nearer to the Lord’s return.

When we stand before God on Judgment Day, pastors and teachers will answer to God for how they presented the Word of God to others. Everyone who heard them will stand alone before God, to answer to Him about why they believed those who lied, instead of reading the Word of God for themselves in order to know the truth.

Our eternal destiny hinges on knowing God’s Holy Word, to the best of our ability, and whether we obeyed it.

Are we offering acceptable sacrifices to God, or strange fire?

Hundreds of Bible prophecies have been fulfilled and those remaining shall surely come to pass. Are you prepared to stand before God and give an account of the life you have lived on this earth (Revelation 20:12-15)? If not, salvation is only a prayer away. A Message from God, Yesterday and Today

MOSES

A MESSAGE FROM GOD, YESTERDAY AND TODAY

A message from God was spoken through the mouth of Moses thousands of years ago, which still reverberates throughout the world today, which people can only hear with their spiritual ears:

“Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; a blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day; and a curse, if you will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods which you have not known (actually can be anything placed in priority above God)” Deuteronomy 11:26-28.

The message still rings true today. Anyone who is willing to place God and His commandments above all else, love Him first, and do according to His will, as it is written in His Holy Word, will be blessed, oh so blessed!

Contrarily, those who defy the living God, do not fear Him, which is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10), and do not keep His Holy Commandments, as they are written in His Holy Word, will be cursed with an everlasting curse!

Under the New Covenant and dispensation of the mercy of God, however, there is a remedy extended to those who are living under the curse of the Law of God.

We may now come boldly before the throne of God and repent of our sins, turn away from evil, and be blessed!

All is not lost if you have been living under a curse in this life, friend.

Jesus said,

“Come unto Me, all of you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest unto your souls; for My yoke is easy and My burden is light” Matthew 11:28-30.

The Word of God tells us that the way of the transgressor is hard (Proverbs 13:15).

If you find yourself miserable, not prospering, losing on every hand, sad, heartbroken and on a path to destruction, look up to where your help will come from (Psalm 121:1).

The Lord looks down from heaven and searches for those who are His sheep and He has promised to bless them (Ezekiel 34:11).

Nevertheless, God is a gentle shepherd and He will never force the flock to come to Him; He waits patiently for us to heed His call:

“The Spirit (of God) and the Bride (His people) say, Come. Let him that hears say, Come. Let him that is athirst come, and whosoever will, let him take of the water of life freely” Revelation 22:17.

Jesus also said,

“Whosoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:26.

Jesus is referring to the fact that our spirits live on forever.

Entering hell forever because of sins committed in this life is referred to as “eternal damnation” in the Word of God (Mark 3:29); but those who accept Jesus as their Savior will live in glory forever with Him; they will enter “eternal life” (Romans 6:23).

Hundreds of Bible prophecies have been fulfilled and those remaining will also come to pass. Please don’t neglect your eternal soul. If you aren’t saved, I invite you to visit the How Can I Be Saved page of this website.  God bless you.

There Is A Lion Out There!

THERE IS A LION OUT THERE!

The Word of God tells us that satan seeks to devour us like a roaring lion.

“Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about seeking whom he may devour” 1 Peter 5:8.

Who is it that would not be afraid of a roaring lion rushing toward you?

ROARING LION

Screen shot: YouTube.com

I can tell you, I would be, except by the supernatural power of God, if I had to confront him. First of all, I will avoid him with all of my soul, all of my heart, mind and strength!

Sometimes we have no choice but to confront the devil. We can see that example in David versus Goliath, the giant (nephilim – original Hebrew) who threatened Israel. David had the power of God with him, because he dwelt in the “Secret Place” of the Most High God (Psalms 91).

If you don’t dwell in the Secret Place, you had better call upon the name of the Lord fast, as you seek a hiding place from the enemy of your soul!

The key to abiding in the Secret Place is found primarily in Psalms 91:9, “Because you have made the Lord, even the Most High, your habitation;” and Psalms 91:14, “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore, I will deliver him.” There are also other passages within that chapter, Psalms 91, which demonstrate to us how to gain the high favor of God and dwell in His Secret Place.

How can we make the Lord our habitation? We keep our minds fixed on Him (Isaiah 26:3), His ways, His commandments, His truth and His mighty presence with us at all times, as much as lies within us to do so.

The other major factor is setting our love upon Him. We might all know how to do that: “…let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me” (Matthew 16:24). Jesus explains in this passage of scripture that if we want to follow Him, we must deny ourselves:

“Then said Jesus unto His disciples, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me” Matthew 16:24.  These are the conditions, friends.

Jesus also said,

“If you love Me, keep My commandments” John 14:15.

He said concerning some:

“This people draw nigh unto Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me” Matthew 15:8.

The truth is that if we truly deny ourselves and seek after the Lord will all of our hearts, we don’t really lose anything at all, perhaps momentarily, for the Word of God tells us:

“Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you” Matthew 6:33.  *It doesn’t happen instantly; faith and patience is involved.

Getting back to the lion…

Certainly, if any one of us sees a hungry, roaring lion coming at us, we are going to call on God and avoid the encounter with all that is within us.

Joseph was a good example of this avoidance. Joseph fled so fast from Potiphar’s wife, who wanted to commit adultery with him, that he fled, leaving his garment behind in her hands, as she grabbed his clothes. Potiphar’s wife used the garment against him, showing it to Potiphar’s household, and she accused Joseph of trying to molest her, but he actually fled from her. Joseph ended up in prison for a while, and this is where the real test of faith comes in, but in the end, after he endured the trial with patience, Joseph became second in command under the King himself! You will have to read the entire account for yourself to appreciate the mighty, miracle-working hand of God in behalf of His elect, those who dwell in the Secret Place of the Most High (Genesis 39-41).

If we don’t study the Word of God diligently every day, keeping also a faithful prayer life before God, we become extremely weak, if not backslidden from God. Our physical bodies cannot survive without natural food, and our spiritual bodies cannot survive without spiritual food, which is the Word of the Most High God.

Jesus said,

If you abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, you shall ask what you will and it shall be done unto you” John 15:7.

We only abide in Christ, as we diligently study His Word and pray. The Word then abides in us and we will speak the Words of Christ, and God will honor those Words.

In summary, the spiritual lion is very real and he lurks ever near to find an avenue to devour you and your family.

As sure as the invisible hydrogen and the invisible oxygen, when they come together, bring forth water, which you can then see with your natural eyes, God and satan are very real. God is calling you to eternal life through the path that our Lord and Savior made for us, Jesus Christ, His Son. Satan, on the other hand, seeks to devour as many as he can, while there is still time.

The days have become so evil that, unless we seek to dwell in the Secret Place, we may be devoured.

The Word of God tells us,

“Except those days be shortened (the latter days – now), there should no flesh be saved, but for the elect’s sake, those days will be shortened…for there shall arise false Christs and false prophets and shall show great signs and wonders, insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect” Matthew 24:22,24.

Don’t think so? Do you believe God will hold you up no matter what you do, or how you live, because you once said a sinner’s prayer? Take note of this:

“Therefore, let him who thinks he stands, take heed, lest he fall” 1 Corinthians 10:12.

No one will be allowed to live in sin and enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

The Word of God tells us,

“Know you not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of God? Be not deceived, neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate (men who act like women), nor abusers of themselves with mankind (men who sleep with men – this applies to women who act like men, and women who sleep with women as well), nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners shall inherit the Kingdom of God” 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.

Take heed and warn your loved ones, because there is a lion out there!

Hit hard by Obamacare? It would be well worth your while to compare plans and rates among these Christian healthcare cooperatives. They are inexpensive and meet the federal mandates of the new healthcare law:

Christian Healthcare Ministries (www.CHMinistries.org)

Samaritan Ministries (www.SamaritanMinistries.org)

Medi-Share (www.Medi-Share.org)

*One of these ministries, which I chose to avoid paying Obama(don’t)care taxes, is such a tremendous blessing to me. They have the same deductible, but the monthly cost is half the amount that the Obama(don’t)care premiums would have been. I determined I would not give my personal data to the online exchange, even if I had to pay a high tax penalty, but just six months before the tax penalty would have kicked in, God led me to the ministry, one of these three, that I selected. I don’t use it and never intend to use it, but God made a way for me to avoid the tax penalty. Isn’t God wonderful? He is always just on time, when we trust fully in Him!

The Dowry

DOWRY

Screen shot: YouTube.com

THE DOWRY

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is referred to in the scriptures as our “Bridegroom” (Isaiah 62:5; Matthew 9:15; John 3:29) and we, His saints, are referred to as His “bride” (Joel 2:16; Revelation 19:7).

Throughout Biblical history, the patriarchs paid dowries for their brides, and vice versa, the fathers of the brides also paid dowries to the bridegrooms. Examples of this are indicated below:

Jacob worked seven years for Rachel’s father in order to marry Rachel (Genesis 29).

Shechem’s father, Hamor, went to Jacob to inquire about paying a dowry for Dinah, his daughter (Genesis 34).

Leah said God had given her a “good dowry,” six sons (Genesis 30).

Caleb gave his daughter a dowry of a field with springs of water (Judges 1).

First, Jesus spilled His precious blood on Calvary for our redemption (Ephesians 1:7).

Jesus said to His disciples,

“In My Father’s house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto Myself, that where I am, there you may be also” John 14:2-3.

By this promise also, Jesus has spoken of His dowry to us, the “bride” of Christ.

Everything written in the scriptures was “written for our learning” (Romans 15:4). So, in that the Word of God tells us that bridegrooms give dowries for their brides, and we see that Jesus is preparing a place for us, as fulfillment of the things foreshadowed, what is the “bride” to prepare for her “bridegroom,” Jesus?

Did Jesus provide some hints as to what this “dowry” should be?

He did, in fact. Jesus said,

“If you love Me, keep My commandments” John 14:15.

“If you keep My commandments, you shall abide in My love, even as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love” John 15:10.

“If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness (sin), we lie, and do not the truth” 1 John 1:6.

Finally, the Word of God says,

“I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service” Romans 12:1.

In other words, in return for salvation, our eternal abode with Him, God expects us to surrender ourselves wholly and completely to Him in holiness, which is our reasonable service (our dowry).
